Coffee Break: Free Lunch Coffee - Medium-Dark Roast
So, you might be wondering why this coffee is named Free Lunch Coffee…
For every bag sold they donate ten meals to underprivileged children in South Africa. So, not just are you supporting a small business when you purchase from them, you're feeding ten children with each bag you buy.
They're also Fair Trade Certified - something we should be demanding from every major coffee company. If you aren't familiar, check out this link to learn a bit more.
But let's get into how it tastes for a bit.
I tried this one both in a French press and in my drip-coffee brewer.
In both cases, it had a nice bold, yet mellow flavor. It was a bit smoother in the drip-coffee brewer, but I didn't like it in the French press any less. It's honestly the perfect blend for a French Press. It almost tastes a bit like you're drinking espresso and it's phenomenal with a little cream.
The coffee has a lovely aroma as well. I found it to have light notes of chocolate and chestnut. It's an exquisite dark roast.
It is a single-origin coffee, not a blend. It's also artisan roasted in small batches and you can taste the difference.
This is my favorite type of bold morning blend that gives you a nice boost of energy for the day. I would pair it with anything from a classic hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast to an afternoon of tasting chocolate truffles.
I highly recommend this one. Not just is it one of the best dark roasts I've ever tasted, but they are an amazing small business that gives back half of their coffee sales to feed children.
