Coffee Break - Wave Smooth Talk

There's nothing that I love more than a beautifully smooth and flavorful dark roast coffee.

Wave's Smooth Talk promised all of that with hints of chocolate and mint - one of my all-time favorite flavor combinations. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to review this one.

If you've been following this blog for a while you might remember that I did a review of Wave's Sweet Daze blend a few months ago. Make sure to check that article out too, I go into a lot more detail on the brand itself.

For this blend, I chose to make it with my pour-over coffee maker. This way I could get the smoothest pour possible. I wanted to see if this blend was truly as delightfully smooth as it promised or if I was just encountering some "smooth-talking" in the branding.

If you don't normally use a pour-over, I would suggest using roughly two tablespoons of coffee for every 8oz of water.

I initially tried this out black and it was a velvety smooth blend that definitely lived up to its name. I immediately noticed the rich dark chocolate notes. It wasn't quite as chocolatey as a mocha, but certainly very noticeable in a really good way. I also noticed light notes of almond and mint.

It’s not exactly a chocolate mint flavor, but it has enough of that vibe to pair perfectly with a few After Eight’s. It would also be nice just to savor the unique flavor of this blend with a buttery croissant.

They’re currently revamping their online store, but you can subscribe for updates on when they open back up here.
